Longnose Killifish (Fundulus similis)
Along the Pasco coast we have a very colorful bait fish that can be found among the mangrove roots. The male Longnose Killifish is very colorful in the summer during breeding season. Although the females are plain silver with brown bars, the males turn into a green, gray, and black. As the high tide comes in to its maximum the tidal pools fill up with fighting males and egg laying females.
